I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the projects I have painted over the years with some really great teachers. Each one has helped me to extend myself and develop many new skills and techniques on this journey of Decorative Art

Original design by Enid Hoessinger.

I painted this design on a small cupboard door about 7 years ago. It is painted in acrylics using Enids multiloading techniques and was taught to me by a wonderful painter and dear friend Heidi Ott.

Zhostova Plate and Tray. Original design by Slava Letkov.

This was a wonderful seminar I attended when Russian Master Zhostova Painter Slava Letkov and Tricia Joiner visited Australia in 1998. Slava was a truly inspirational teacher who helped make my dreams of painting in this style finally come true.

Original design by Shirley Wilson.

Shirley is another wonderful person who I have had the joy of painting with when she came to Australia in 1998. "Velvet" is one of three projects I painted in the seminar and I learned a lot of wonderful new techniques including how to paint in a relaxed and unstressed manner.

Sunrise on Farm and Cats in Jammies. Original Designs by Linda Mcfadden.

Linda is another lovely lady whose work I adore. I was lucky enough to attend her 1999 Melbourne seminar where I painted this tranquil Australian inspired scene featuring a little boy with his Aussie Sheepdog tending the sheep. The "Cats in Jammies" design is one of my favourites painted from one of Linda's pattern packs. It was painted on a large wastepaper bin following all the techniques I learned in her seminar.

Lilac and Jug Study.
Original Design by Pat Clarke.

On my visit to the US in 1999 I had the pleasure of staying with Pat and her husband at their beautiful country property in Mulberry Hill, Missouri. It was a truly memorable occasion getting to paint with this truly remarkable lady. This project was painted in acrylics on a canvas in a painterly unstructured fashion using Pat's beautiful original pastel study for guidance.

Original design by Judy Westergaard.

This BlueGill was not only designed by Judy but also handcarved by her too. Her love of nature is so apparent in her beautiful designs and I was lucky enough to get the handcarved fish and pattern pack from her. Her instructions are so clearly written that I really enjoyed the challenge of painting him and was thrilled with the results.

I had the opportunity to paint this beautiful yellow rose with Deanne Fortnam when she held a seminar here in Melbourne in 2000.

Deanne was such a superb teacher and shared so much of her knowledge when demonstrating her techniques on how to paint this rose. When I first saw a picture of it I really didn't think I would be able to paint it but was thrilled with the results and have since gone on to teach my students many projects from Deannes books using the techniques she taught at the seminar. They are also amazed at how lifelike their projects look when painting apples, berries and roses in this style.
